Have A Meaningful Vaisakhi - Friday in The STAR

Make Malaysia GREAT:
Beware of Artificial Boundaries!*

In our previous messages, we have stressed the need for action and shared a belief system that can help make things happen. In this advertisement, we would like to show you why so many fail to get things done and achieve their potential. What and who is the enemy to action?

1.    What is an Artificial Boundary?
Artificial Boundary is an automatic response that happens at the mind level. It gives us what seemingly sounds like a good reason NOT TO TAKE ACTION. Simply put, when you want to go for a jog, your mind may suggest that it might rain soon. The mind is capable of automatically creating limitless artificial boundaries no matter who or where we are - age, gender, origins, educational background, socio-economic status, political leanings, ethnicity, religious affiliations, government policies, culture, traditions, and history. Anything and everything that the mind can grab or use for inaction – automatically!

2.    Why are Artificial Boundaries dangerous?
It is a default setting – in a split second, it strikes us.  Many are completely unaware of this mechanism that governs our day-to-day living, habitually. So we grow old not doing, not achieving. As we get older, we feel uneasy in our hearts – something is wrong somewhere but we cannot pinpoint what, where, why and how. Deep within, we wonder if we have short-changed our lives. The less conscious become bitter old men and women – angry with the world. Artificial Boundary strikes them again and again in a spiral of inaction.

3.    How to avoid Artificial Boundaries?
Consciousness. Firstly, be mindful and recognise its presence in our daily lives. Be constantly aware when it happens and act against it – by taking action. Better still be vigilant and stop it before it strikes us by learning to separate between real boundaries and artificial ones. How to stop it before it strikes us? That is the topic to discuss in our next advertisement during Wesak.

At zubedy, our programs and activities draw strength from our shared values and traditions. We believe that at heart, all Malaysians want good things for themselves and for their brother and sister Malaysians, simply because our nation cannot prosper as a whole if some of us are left behind.

You and I, must be aware and avoid Artificial Boundaries and Make Malaysia GREAT.

Let us add value,
Have a Meaningful Vaisakhi.

*The idea presented in this message is part of our Making A Difference through P3 program’s core concepts.
